Hockey Gold for Team Canada’s Women
In all the hockey I have watched (and I’ve watched alot) never have I seen a hockey team which has played with as much heart, discipline and finesse as the 2006 Team Canada Women’s Olympic Hockey Team.
Canada’s Golden Girls maintained control of their game from the first whistle of their first game right through to the final buzzer of the final game, when they defeated Sweden 4-1 to bring home the gold. During the course of their Olympic games, Canada gave up only two goals. It took 152 minutes of hockey for the first goal to be scored against the Women’s Team, and it was the first even-strength goal to be scored against them since the World Championships in November 2004.
Congratulations to the 2006 Women’s Hockey Gold Medalists – Team Canada.
Now….if the Canadian Men’s Team could just learn a few lessons from the Women’s Team and start playing like a team of winners……
