Who put the Order in my Chaos?

w00t

So last night was the bi-weekly Game Dev social, which as many of you know by now is also attended by movie, television, actor and p.r. types. I was talking to one of the producers whom I’ve gotten to know fairly well about screenwriting, and in the course of the conversation I mentioned (in a very general, non-story-identifying terms) a story I’ve been researching since 1988. He encouraged me to start working on it not as a novel but as a screenplay. Another friend, Chris, who is currently working on the screenplay for Bloodrayne 2 with his writing partner, also felt it was a good idea and that I should develop it. So during the drive home, I started thinking more about it, and going through my mind about how to start the "show" and all of the information I know about the story, as well as what areas are a bit weak and need a bit more research. Court transcripts would help greatly, but they are rather expensive, unless I can get either the bad guy’s lawyer to let me make copies of his, or if the former prosecutor still has access to copies. He is now the Province’s Attorney General, and I did interview him about the case a few years ago. Either way, I guess it’s worth an enquiry at least. Failing that, I will have to contact the court stenographers’ office and see if I can get a cost estimate on obtaining the transcripts. Our government is very supportive of writers and films, so perhaps I could find the funding that way to get the information I need. Then I just need to work in the time to write it LOL. -.-
